Freire, Paulo

'Paulo Freire (1921-1997), of Pernambuco, educator, created and developed a revolutionary method of teaching adult literacy. Exiled by the military dictatorship, he applied his method in a number of Third World countries' (Fernandes, Bernardo Mançano e Stedile, João Pedro.
