ENERA - National Meeting of the Educators of Agrarian Reform

'The meeting took place in July, 1997, at the University of Brasilia (UnB), with more than 700 educators, the majority of whom were elementary school teachers of the settlements. The meeting had a great impact in the academic and educational community, since for the first time in the history of Brazil it assembled educators from the rural environment to debate education and agrarian reform. It was organized by the Education Sector of the MST, with the assistance of the University of Brasilia and UNICEF' (Fernandes, Bernardo Mançano e Stedile, João Pedro. Brava gente: a trajetória do MST e a luta pela terra no Brasil. São Paulo: Editora Fundação Perseu Abramo, 1999, p. 73, n. 1).
